WHY KITCHEN PARTY?
The kitchen is the heart of the home, and Grand Falls-Windsor is the heart of the province.
Kitchen Party Theatre Festival’s mission is to create a permanent, not-for-profit professional theatre festival of stories in Central Newfoundland; a mural of scraps, a mosaic of bits and pieces from ordinary peoples’ extraordinary lives.
There is something to tell in everything. We want to hear about it.

BERNARDINE
Bernardine Ann Teraz Stapleton is a senior NL artist in both experience and years, but happily still a complete child when it comes to finding the creative joy in making great theatre. She has written almost 40 plays and toured the world, both as a performer and as a writer. As the co-creator of the Kitchen Party Theatre Festival she is deeply invested in creating a unique environment that tells the hidden and heart-felt stories of home. Building a professional theatre company in Grand Falls-Windsor feels like a time of renewal, not only for our post-pandemic revival, but for possibilities of change in where and how theatre is made and received.

NICOLEHailing from Cambridge, Ontario, Nicole Smith is proud to call Newfoundland home for half the year. She's a writer and theatre creator who is deeply inspired by those around her. Much of Nicole's professional experience has involved collective creation and facilitation, and she is a dedicated believer in collaboration. As someone whose mentors have shaped her every approach, Nicole is devoted to holding space for new creators of all ages at the Kitchen Party Theatre Festival, and believes artists should not have to leave home in order to make or sustain their art.
