season three IS HERE!
july 22nd - august 13th, 2022
season one (2020)Launching a new theatre festival at the height of a pandemic meant pivoting with the best of them, and with thanks to patient funders and colleagues with skills, Kitchen Party Theatre Festival's first season went live with a podcast series called From Our Kitchen To Yours in August of 2020. Browse a selection of archived episodes below. Hosted by Bernardine and Nicole, each instalment of From Our Kitchen to Yours features the wisdom of a different special guest, excerpts from our work in progress, and the musical stylings of renowned Newfoundland artists such as Jim Payne, Modern Archetypes, Pamela Morgan, and Grand Falls-Windsor's own Queen Street Dinner Theatre.
The Tin Roof Mentorship Project was also launched this season, and is something KPTF hopes to grow. There's no age limit on 'emerging' in our eyes. |
season two (2021)Our first season on the ground was not without its own pivots, but with a beautiful company of twelve professional artists (including three local mentees), a contingent of community makers and shakers, and much support from the town of Grand Falls-Windsor, season two of KPTF included a workshop production of Girls From Away, a weekly afternoon run of a brand new sketch comedy show called The Rowdies, and a handful of special events.
A Case of Gordon was (appropriately) our most popular evening at the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts - a local tribute to the man himself - and One Song at a Time by Tim Matson and Kiersten Noel featured the work of the composers/lyricists behind Girls From Away. A new musical about the hundreds of women recruited from Central Newfoundland to Cambridge, Ontario during the Second World War. Script by Bernardine Stapleton and Nicole Smith. |
